LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

      Elena Otero-Novas

President  of the Spanish Court of Arbitration

The Spanish Court of Arbitration is the leading Spanish arbitral institution, serving business since 1981. We have consolidated our reputation as one of the top dispute resolution institutions over the course of more than 40 years, offering public and private economic operators our commercial dispute resolution services in line with the most exacting standards of independence, transparency and efficiency.

We are an independent arbitral institution within the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Shipping, acting as a quasi-public body with the primary purpose of representing, promoting and defending Spanish businesses.

The Spanish Court of Arbitration’s vocation to serve businesses means that it has always been firmly committed to promoting out-of-court dispute resolution mechanisms. This commitment is ultimately based on the belief that arbitration is an effective tool to drive competitiveness in the market and to develop social wellbeing as a result.

To make sure that we properly meet our commitments, our internal rules enable us to guarantee that our bodies will take the fully independent decisions that form the basis of good arbitration proceedings, particularly when it comes to appointing arbitrators and making sure that our services are transparent, impartial and professional.

Based on our firm conviction that arbitration is an essential tool to improve business competitiveness, the Spanish Court of Arbitration will continue to do everything it can to offer economic operators an outstanding arbitration service that meets the highest standards of independence, impartiality and transparency.

Signed Elena Otero-Novas, President of the Spanish Court of Arbitration.
