LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

      Elena Otero-Novas

President  of the Spanish Court of Arbitration

Established in 1981, the Spanish Court of Arbitration is Spain’s oldest arbitration institution. With more than forty years of experience, it has become one of the country’s leading dispute resolution bodies, providing commercial arbitration services to both public and private economic operators in accordance with the highest standards of independence, transparency, and efficiency.

The Spanish Court of Arbitration is an independent arbitral institution affiliated with the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Navigation of Spain, a public-law corporation whose primary mission is to represent, promote, and defend the interests of Spanish businesses.

Consistent with its business-oriented mission, the Spanish Court of Arbitration has maintained a longstanding commitment to the promotion and development of extrajudicial dispute resolution mechanisms. This commitment is founded on the conviction that arbitration is an effective tool for enhancing business competitiveness and, ultimately, for contributing to social welfare.

To ensure compliance with these principles, the Spanish Court of Arbitration operates under internal regulations designed to safeguard the full independence of its governing bodies in all decisions relating to the proper administration of arbitral proceedings—particularly in the appointment of arbitrators—while guaranteeing transparency, impartiality, and professionalism in the provision of its services.

Firmly convinced that arbitration is an essential instrument for improving business competitiveness, the Spanish Court of Arbitration continues to devote its best efforts to offering economic operators an arbitration service of the highest quality, in line with the most rigorous standards of independence, impartiality, and transparency.

Signed: Elena Otero‑Novas, President of the Spanish Court of Arbitration
